This mountain is along the roadside leading to Koumy, the village where I was born and raised in Mamou in Guinea. It takes nearly two hours to walk from my village to the city center—a journey my father made daily for work until he was able to buy us a house there. I can't count the number of times I've traveled this same road, and I still do it whenever I visit my hometown.
