Independence Day

The 4th of July is one of America's most celebrated holidays. This year (2023), photographing the fireworks was particularly challenging due to a lack of air circulation. The smoke from the fireworks quickly obscured the view, making it difficult to see anything clearly.

I had a very small window of opportunity to capture a clean shot of the fireworks. Out of all the photos I took, only one turned out well, and it was taken within the first 60 seconds of the show. Was it a lucky shot? I believe it was a combination of preparation and timing. This image was captured from Hudson Yards.
